However, something that until then belonged in the fictional universe has become an intriguing published study, with researchers claiming that in addition to physical traits, people with similar characteristics have a lot in common.

The research analyzed the DNA of 32 people considered alike, and in addition to finding physical proximity, the researchers determined that people had similar weight, height, behaviors, and even habits.

Understanding the study

The group of researchers conducted the study on 32 people and used facial recognition technology from three different algorithms to analyze an image of a look-alike.

Algorithms realized that 16 of the 32 people surveyed were considered identical, the so-called doppelgängers, so scientists conducted genetic studies within this group and found incredible similarities between 9 people.

In addition to appearance, similar looks share nearly 20,000 genetic variations in nearly 4,000 genes, most of which are related to behavioral and facial aspects.

To monitor the behavioral situation, researchers analyzed responses to questionnaires answered by a group of 32 people. Analyzes indicate that the lifestyles of the two are also similar, such as education level, weight, and even cigarette consumption.

From François Brunel’s catalog of lookalikes, available online, the scientists were able to access a database to begin the search. The use of 64 images recorded at the site, as well as analysis of each person’s DNA and lifestyle, led to conclusions of genetic and behavioral proximity by the researchers.
