India is gearing up for the upcoming general election, which will be conducted in seven phases starting on April 19. The results of the election, which is considered the largest democratic exercise in the world, will be declared on June 4. Nearly 970 million voters are eligible to cast their ballots in this crucial election.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is seeking a third straight term, has set ambitious targets for his party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Modi is aiming for 370 seats for the BJP and 400-plus for the NDA. He will face tough competition from an alliance of two dozen opposition parties, INDIA, led by the Indian National Congress.

Modi has been actively campaigning for months leading up to the election, traveling across the country and participating in various events to connect with voters. The election will see more than a million polling stations operated by 15 million poll workers to ensure a smooth voting process.

In addition to the parliamentary elections, results for the legislative assembly elections in four states will also be declared on June 4. Furthermore, there will be bypolls for 26 assembly constituencies held during the six-week voting period, adding to the significance of this election.
