The mother of a 14-year-old girl took her daughter to the dermatologist, suspected of having a rash and ended up receiving a frightening diagnosis.
Teenage Sadie Tesmer and guardian Amber Sally, 37, live in Missouri (USA) and did not seek medical help until the girl had skin reactions after bathing.
Sadie underwent many tests to understand the motive behind the skin lesions. Finally, it can be revealed that the young woman, in fact, will be dealing with a very rare disease called aquatic urticaria.
This condition leaves the patient completely hostage to water, regardless of temperature or composition. The main symptoms are red spots on the body, discomfort and itching.
Showers or filtered water, sea water, and even sweat caused these irritations in Sadie and her only reaction after diagnosis was to say “it doesn’t look real”, unhappy.
“It makes me so lonely because I feel like I’m the only one who has it,” said the teen, who is now constantly using antihistamines and injections to treat her bruising.
The girl’s life must fully adapt to the new state of health. It is not yet possible to drink water from a cup in the traditional way. Only with straw.
