The state health department (SES-MT) clarified that the death of a 95-year-old man, which occurred on Thursday (09/08), in Barra do Garças, was not caused by the virus. monkeypox.

The man had the disease, but after an investigation by municipal and state surveillance, it was found that the cause of death was hypovolemic shock, gastrointestinal bleeding and a pre-existing health problem.

SES reports that the man was bedridden for five years due to a stroke.

He had a detectable result of monkeypox on 8/30 and has been hospitalized since 9/4 at UPA in Barra do Garças with clinical picture of five days of acute gastrointestinal bleeding and dehydration.

The patient died Thursday as a result of intestinal bleeding complications associated with the use of antiplatelets that cause hypovolemic shock, according to the death certificate.

This Saturday (10.09), death from monkeypox was ruled out after investigation.
