Federal Police searched and confiscated the home of the former head of the Historical Documentation Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Marcelo da Silva Vieira, who was appointed as a “key figure” in the case of millionaire jewelry allegedly presented by the Saudi dictatorship to former First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL). Vieira signed a document in November 2022 to try, unsuccessfully, to release the gems at the Federal Revenue Service. He stated in a statement that he had received a call from Mauro Cid, then-assistant of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), with his cell phone on loudspeaker, asking the former president to participate as well. Once again, Mauro Cid wanted to help launch the gems, said Marcelo Vieira. After the call, Cid sent Vieira a draft message via WhatsApp.
Federal police believe the former head of the Bureau of Historical Documentation may have hidden information. Investigators crossed data collected through phone confidentiality breaches with the information he provided and found discrepancies with what was said in the testimony.
