The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) said on Thursday (21) that the so-called ghost drones are part of the A $800 million arms package for Ukraine It was quickly developed by the US Air Force in Kyiv and has similar capabilities to the Switchblade armed drone.

After failing to capture the capital Kyiv and forcing it to withdraw from northern Ukraine, Russian forces regrouped this week to launch a new offensive in two eastern provinces known as Donbass.

Ukrainian forces use Western weapons, including Stinger and Javelin missiles, along with drones such as the Turkish Bayraktar TB2 and Switchblade, made in the USAto strike the Russian forces.

Drones allow Ukrainian forces to attack Russian soldiers and equipment from the air, without necessarily having to get close to their targets, as some ground-based weapons do.

“It was rapidly developed by the Air Force in response to specific Ukrainian requirements,” said Pentagon spokesman John Kirby.

There are few specifications known about drones, such as range or what their exact capabilities are.
