The President of the League puts forward a proposal for the management model of the Brazilian League | football
3 min readOn Tuesday, in Sao Paulo, the executives of the first and second division clubs of the Brazilian Championship met with the president of LaLiga (La Liga), Javier Tebas, and representatives of XP Investimentos and Alvarez & Marsal. According to the press office of the event, only Palmeiras appeared among the major clubs.
The Spanish coach presented the clubs with a proposal to organize and manage a league that could be created in Brazil. There was an expectation of an investor bid to buy 25% of the National League, but that didn’t happen.
In his presentation, Tebas explained how the revenue split model from broadcasting rights in Spain and England made a proposal for the future Brazilian League. According to him, the ideal is the distribution of funds as follows between clubs:
- 50% evenly
- 25% based on performance;
- 25% based on show and audience (including stadium occupancy).
The proposal is that the proceeds from international broadcasting rights should be shared equally between the clubs.

According to Tebas, one of the main challenges is to create a model so that the minimum amount distributed evenly is at least equal to the current model.
LaLiga will not participate in the financial part of the project, which will be on behalf of XP. It will be up to the Spanish group to use experience in organization and operational capacity, being guarantors of the model to be implemented in Brazil.
In La Liga, we aim to help develop and make football. With the proposal that we present with XP and Alvarez & Marsal, we want to offer, in Brazil, all the knowledge we have gained over the years to propose a financially and administratively appropriate business model for betting on the growth of football in Brazil. “Today we are presenting to the Brazilian clubs a proposal that includes the best practices of LaLiga and how we have been able to be one of the most effective sports competitions in terms of business development and financial stability,” Javier Tebas said, in a press release.
last week, The clubs were able to apply together with the Brazilian Confederation to create a team. The teams agreed to maintain the distribution of the votes of each group in the entity elections. In return, the Brazilian Confederation pledged to support the establishment of the league.
– This show was very interesting, with Javier Tebas – experienced in the area. LaLiga has an established model throughout the football world. Now, let’s listen to other players in the market and discuss the best options between clubs. Our attitude towards the Brazilian Football Confederation was also important, because the league is irreversible – said Julio Casares, president of Sao Paulo.

LaLiga has arrived to compete with two other companies that have been in contact since last year with clubs interested in the league, Like Codajas Sports Kapital, associated with BTG. In November last year, Some clubs have even signed commitment terms with Codajas To attract investments and establish the league but the financial offer did not go forward. A meeting with the group is expected in the coming days.
