US military jets intercept Russian plane near Alaska | the world
1 min readUS warplanes have intercepted a Russian military aircraft near the state of Alaska for the second time this week, the US-Canada North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said on Thursday.
NORAD said in a statement that four Russian aircraft, including a Tu-95 bomber and Su-30 and Su-35 fighter jets, were intercepted on Tuesday.
“The Russian planes were in international airspace and did not enter US or Canadian sovereign airspace,” it said.
This is the second disruption in two days. The first was held on Monday.
“Norad assesses that this Russian air activity In no way related to the recent NORAD and US Northern Command activities involving North American air assets over the past two weeks“, says the note.
This month US jets shot down a Chinese spy balloon and three unidentified objects, an unusual strike for warplanes stationed in North America.
