AT&T customers who were affected by a widespread outage on Thursday can expect a $5 credit from the company. The outage, which started around 3:30 a.m. Eastern time, was caused by technical issues as AT&T tried to expand its network.
Users across the United States, including cities like Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York, experienced cut off connections during the outage. Downdetector.com, a site that tracks user reports of disruptions, received about 70,000 reports of disrupted service for AT&T.
Despite the inconvenience, AT&T was able to fully restore service after about seven hours. The company has since apologized for the disruption and announced plans to provide affected customers with a $5 credit as a gesture of goodwill.
In a statement, AT&T reassured customers that they are always working to improve their network and prevent future outages. They urged customers to reach out to customer service if they have any further concerns or questions regarding the outage.
