In the latest balance issued by the Economic Policy Secretariat of the Ministry of Economy, the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) was expected to be around 10.04% this year. This indicates that for 2022, the minimum wage will have a larger correction than expected. With that, the insured from the National Institute of Social Security – INSS will also be readjusted next year.

The change in minimum wage expectations will also directly affect the floor and ceiling of the National Institute of Statistics. Estimation, therefore, is 1.210.00 Brazilian Real, causing additional expenditures for the federal government. For every R$ increase in the minimum wage, the government spends an additional R$350 million.

Currently, the maximum value for the INSS ceiling is R$6433.57, and with adjustment based on this projection, it will change to 7.079.50 BRL Next year. Only on January 11, 2022, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics – IBGE will present the official catalog. There is, at least for the time being, no perspective on variance in value if we analyze it from the INPC projection.

Compared to the last projection, the increase was 1.64 percentage points. Also because, in September, the numbers revealed a forecast of 8.4%. There is a possibility that the INPC will continue to show an increase in December, as it did in November.
