Iggy Pop praises Jack White and Meg White for starting Detroit garage rock band, but the latter was not involved
The White Stripes were inducted by Iggy Pop at the annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio last night, with Jack White accepting the honor on behalf of the duo.(Meg White was absent, having left the music industry and the public eye since the band broke up in 2011.) Afterwards, Olivia Rodrigo, Feist and Twenty One Pilots performed the White Stripes classic in their honor.Watch a replay of those moments below.
After introducing the White Stripes as "the Adam and Eve of the 21st century, who started a rock and roll band," Iggy Pop passed the microphone to Jack White, who noted that his "sister" Meg White had added "punctuations and corrections" to his speech.He supported, it means a lot to him tonight," he said.
"I want to say to young artists, get your hands dirty, throw away your screens, go out in your garage or your little room and get excited. Get excited about something, get excited. We all want to share what you can create," continued White.why it happens, but when it does, it's the most beautiful thing you can have as an artist or a musician, when people respond to you and share with you."

Rodrigo and Feist opened the tribute with a sentimental duet of "We're Going to Be Friends" on acoustic guitars before turning it over to Twenty One Pilots for the sports-stadium rock-anthem-turned-classic "Seven Nation Army," fittingly played by a fellow guitar and drums duo.
Some of the other eductoes in this year's Rock Hall include Outkast, Cyndi Laupper, bad company, chubby Checker and Warren Zevon, and Satha Salr-N-Pepa to receive the musical influence award.
