The Neurosurgery Service at Clariston Andrade General Hospital (HGCA), this Tuesday (14), has identified its line of elective neurosurgeries. About 16 patients who have been admitted to the unit and are waiting in line have already been operated on. The Neurosurgery service is open 24 hours a day, including an outpatient service after surgery. According to the team’s coordinator, Dr. Eduardo Portillo, an average of 20 patients per week will be seen in the outpatient setting after surgery.

The neurosurgeon also explains that there will be daily neurosurgeries in the unit, operating patients diagnosed with brain tumors, brain aneurysms, and spinal cord trauma, as well as trauma/accident victims, hemorrhagic cerebral vascular accidents (CVA), Among other diseases. “Our team consists of nine neurosurgeons.
