Chicago-based United canceled 120 flights on Friday (24), while Atlanta-based Delta said it had canceled about 90 flights. Both said they were working to contact passengers. Airports.
“The increase in cases of microns nationwide this week has had a direct impact on our flight crew and the people who operate our operations. As a result, unfortunately, we had to cancel some flights and inform affected customers in advance of their arrival at the airport,” United said.
Delta said, “Before about 90 flights were canceled on Friday, all options and resources were exhausted, including the flight and crew redirection and alternatives to cover scheduled flights.”
Delta cited the possibility of reversing the impact of severe weather and Ômicron variation.
On Tuesday, Delta CEO Ed Bastian urged the Center for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to reduce isolated guidelines for people who have been fully vaccinated with Govt infections.
Bastian asked that the isolation period be reduced from the current 10 days to five days.
That demand was echoed by Airlines for America and JetBlue on Wednesday (22), a trade group representing large cargo and passenger carriers who wrote a letter to the CDC on Thursday.
The CDC on Thursday issued updated isolated guidelines for health workers, reducing the isolation time for test-positive to Covit-19 but to seven days for asymptomatic workers, until the test is negative.
