An asteroid over 1,000 km in diameter will approach Earth in January

Sputnik Brazil – The US space agency reported that two asteroids will approach Earth on January 18 this year, and the last time one of them approached was in 1933.
A massive asteroid will approach Earth on January 18, 2021, according to the Center for the Study of Near-Earth Objects at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).
7482 (1994 PC1) has a diameter of more than 1,000 km, and will pass at a distance of at least two million km, which is about five times the average distance between the Earth and the Moon, and therefore does not pose any danger to life on our planet.
Despite this, this is the closest approximation of the space object since 1933, when it flew just over 1.1 million km from Earth, and was considered a “potentially dangerous object” by NASA, wrote Friday (31) of the Daily Mail.
The next time the asteroid takes a similar approach will be in the year 2105, when it is estimated to reach approximately 2.3 million kilometers from our planet.
On January 18, the 21-meter-long 2021 BA will approach Earth, which will be at a minimum distance of 3.7 million kilometers from Earth.
7482 (1994 PC1) was discovered in 1994 by astronomer RH McNaught at Siding Spring Observatory, Australia.
