Russian attack kills 17 people in Zaporizhia, according to Ukraine |  Globalism

A rocket attack hit the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhia on Sunday, damaging apartments, killing at least 17 people and wounding dozens.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, the attack could have started from Russia.

The attack comes a day after the explosion of the only bridge linking Russia to Ukraine’s Crimea. So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the damage to the strategic path of the Russians.

According to the Associated Press, the missiles that hit Zaporizhia during the night damaged at least 20 homes and 50 apartment buildings. At least 40 people have also been hospitalized.

The explosions also partially destroyed the building. The Ukrainian military confirmed the attack, citing dozens of deaths.

“Again, Zaporizhzhia. Cruel attacks on civilians, targeting of apartment buildings, in the middle of the night,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a post on social media.

Areas retaken by Ukraine

This Saturday (8), Moscow also changed the commander of the Russian forces fighting in Ukraine. Army General Sergei Sorovikin was appointed commander of the cluster.

The decision to change leadership comes after a series of Ukrainian attacks in recent weeks.

The Russian forces also lost 500 square kilometers in the Kherson region in southern Ukraine, It narrowly escaped a siege at Lyman, a major logistical center currently controlled by the Ukrainians.
