Albert Einstein Municipal Astronomical Park E=mc2 is open in Morro Cechinel, open daily from 3pm-9pm. Planetarium sessions are held from Thursday to Sunday at 3:00 pm, 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm, and observing activities in telescopes are held from Thursday to Sunday from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm. For those interested in participating in the sessions, a fee of R$10 per person will be charged, which will be sold on site for cash only.

However, children under six years of age, elderly people over 60 years of age and groups of teachers and students from public schools, state schools and municipal day-care centers located in the municipality of Criciúma are exempt from the fee. As for teachers and students from private schools in the municipality of Criciúma, from public and private schools in other municipalities and university students who also want to take part in the courses and all the activities available in the park environment, a half-price benefit will be established.

The place was inaugurated last Friday, the 6th, in the celebrations of the 143rd anniversary of the city of Criciúma. Space aims to encourage observation of the universe, and to spark curiosity in the study of the sciences and the fields that make up astronomy. It has received four thousand visitors so far.

According to the Municipal Secretary of Education, Celito Cardoso, the influx of people who participated in the visits in the first weekend of the operation of the park, exceeded all expectations. “We welcomed people of all ages, curious and passionate about science and astronomy who went to Morro Cechinel to discover the newest park in Criciúma, to appreciate space, to watch the session in the planetarium with the theme of the solar system and to contemplate the night sky through telescopes.”

The site contains a digital planetarium, constellation displays, laboratories, telescopes, and naked-eye observatories.
