BH expands audience for bivalent Covid vaccine and begins influenza immunization

Starting Monday (3), the city of Belo Horizonte, as well as other cities in the state of Minas Gerais, will start vaccination against influenza. Also on Monday, the capital expanded the public to be immunized with a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine.

About the influenza vaccine, BH initially advocated the following groups:

  • elderly people over 80 years old;
  • bedridden stay in long-term housing;
  • pregnant women and postpartum women (women who gave birth less than 45 days ago);
  • immunity.
  • Workers in health centers, UPAs, and hospitals.

According to the municipality, other groups designated by the Ministry of Health as a priority for the public will be called upon to receive the influenza vaccine over the next few weeks. The flu vaccination campaign runs until May 31.

For Covid-19, the municipality of Belo Horizonte will start on Monday (3) immunization with the bivalent vaccine in health workers who work in health centers, medical associations and hospitals. Other workers in the area will be called over the next few weeks.

To receive the vaccine, you must have completed at least the full 2-dose platform with monovalent vaccines, subject to a minimum interval of 4 months from the last dose of monovalent Covid-19 vaccine received. Health professionals must prove that they work in institutions in Belo Horizonte. In addition, it is necessary to present an identity document with a photo and a CPF, as well as a vaccination card and not having been infected with Covid-19 with symptoms in the past 30 days.

Flu vaccines and a bivalent Covid vaccine are available at 152 health centres, at the drive-through and at two additional locations. It is important to stress that there are no contraindications to taking the bivalent vaccine and other immunizations, such as the flu vaccine, on the same day.
