Atletico vs River Plate: Possible quarter-final lineups for the Libertadores
2 min readAthlete
The trend is that coach Kuka will retain a good part of the squad that started the first leg against River last Wednesday. In goal (Iverson) and in defense (Mariano, Nathan Silva, Junior Alonso and Guilherme Arana), nothing has to change. The attacking trio is likely to be the same: Eduardo Vargas, Jefferson Savarino and Hulk.
In the midfield, there will be at least one change. Argentina’s top scorer and midfielder Nacho Fernandez has been sent off and thus served suspended. Steering wheel Alan, who suffered from edema in the right thigh, is suspicious. Matas Zaracho is recovering from muscle fatigue and tends to be prepared.
So the potential Atlantic lineup has Iverson. Mariano, Nathan Silva, Junior Alonso and Guilherme Arana; Alan (Tech Tech), Gayer and Matas Zaracho; Jefferson Savarino, Eduardo Vargas and Hulk.
River Plate
Coach Marcelo Gallardo is a mystery about the River Plate team for the match against Atlético. But the Argentine press revealed a possible formation of the Argentine national team that could have important reinforcements.
Left-back Fabrizio Angleri and midfielder Nicolas de la Cruz were in doubt for physical reasons but are linked with the match. On the other hand, River will not have defensive midfielder Enzo Perez (suspended), defender Javier Pinola (injured) and right-back Gonzalo Montiel (sale to Sevilla).
Franco Armani River must play; Milton Casco, Paulo Daz, David Martinez and Fabrizio Ingliari; Enzo Fernandez, Bruno Zuccolini, Nichols de la Cruz; Julien Lavarez, Brian Romero and Matas Soares.
