At the time, Rodrigo was 25, young and had plans with Bruno, 37. The relationship, which lasted more than 15 years, was, according to what the teacher told the police, full of love, intimacy and lies on the part of the TV producer. Aspects that have emerged over time and created conflicts in the relationship.
Bruno Rodriguez, as indicated by the investigations, was a man who loved to play roles. No wonder, according to the commissioner in charge of the case, Elaine Soto, several characters in a macabre theater were invented to disrupt the investigation into Jeff’s death.

According to Rodrigo, the actor has always been unknown. In his testimony, the Portuguese and English teacher, now 40, also said that he never knew of his then-partner’s friendship with Jeff since 2020. He maintained that he only became aware of the scale of the case when he saw the ex-partner’s face in the newspapers. , and was surprised when I saw on TV that the two were intimate. It was also surprising to discover that Bruno used to record porn films with a male prostitute. The professor tells the agents that he does not know Gander Vinicius, who has been named by the police as the second suspect in the murder.
In May, when Jeff’s murder came to light, Rodrigo questioned Bruno several times about his connection to the crime. However, even without ascertaining the extent of the ex-partner’s involvement, he continued the relationship normally, he told police.

Teaching every morning in a municipal school and three times a week, at night, in a state school, Rodrigo claimed that the two were “in good financial circumstances”. and that the investments and requests made by the couple were preserved even after Bruno’s disappearance.
To the police, the teacher also told that Bruno was a person of many friends, popular and brilliant in the artistic environment. Producers’ birthday parties were always “for 200+ guests”. Together, the two have built a legacy valued at more than R$300,000. The main house, a house in Guaratiba, in the western region of Rio, was sold in mid-May, three months after the crime.
Rodrigo donated part of the value of the property to the suspect, around R$100,000. For the delegate, Bruno used part of the sum to stay at large.
Expulsion, dissolution and separation from the family
In his testimony, the professor told investigators that after selling the house in which they lived in Guaratiba, they went to live with his brother and sister-in-law Bianca, at their invitation. The idea, until then, would be to help a couple who, at that point, were already having problems in their relationship.

With the progress of investigations and the news that Bruno is the prime suspect in Jeff’s death, Rodrigo’s sister-in-law decides to evict him from the residence. On May 25, Bruno left home, said goodbye to his partner, and broke off relations with his relatives. Almost a week later, on May 31, the day the police chief requested his arrest, Rodrigo said “Bruno left the family group, deleted social networks and left without leaving an address”.
According to Rodrigo’s report, the former partner advertised some of his possessions on an online sale site. And he changed the chip on his cell phone, which made it inaccessible.
Sell the victim’s car and property
Bruno Rodriguez tried to sell Jeff Machado’s car, which was worth R$109,000, eight days after he was killed. At the agency, he would tell the salesman that the actor was being treated for terminal cancer and therefore needed money. The information was given to the police by a store employee. The only reason the deal was not concluded was that it was necessary to obtain the vehicle owner’s signature.
Bruno’s journey to the agency was caught on security cameras. He was accompanied by Rodrigo. The teacher told the police that he helped his ex-partner try to negotiate. He said the car showed up in their garage in January. Bruno was going to tell the teacher that the car belonged to a friend who was helping him. However, according to the statement, at no point did the suspect say that the friend was Jeff Machado and that he was missing. Bruno only said that his friend would travel and the couple could use the car. Jeff reportedly left the key to the house to be appraised in a sale.
Delegate Ellen Soto rules out that Rodrigo was involved in the crime scene. The professor used to go to the kitchenette where Jeff Machado’s body was laid in concrete, but this happened months before the murder. The death investigation should be completed by next week. Bruno has been imprisoned in the Jose Frederico Marquez General Prison in Benfica since 15 June. The suspect will be temporarily detained for 30 days pending completion of investigations.
