MILAN - The 2026 Winter Olympics got off to a grand start on Sunday, Feb. 8, with all eyes on Lindsey Vonn.But the excitement quickly changed when Vonn suffered a major crash in the women's downhill.The 41-year-old competed with an ACL.

The last remaining American hope, Jessica Perlmutter, entered her final heat needing a big score to bolster her opening 77. But she couldn't even land her jump, falling on her face in 23rd place with a lead of 132.25.

New Zealand's Zoi Sadowski-Synnott topped qualifying with 172.25, scoring at least 82.25 in all three runs.
