This week, Oscar-nominated films Hamnet and The Secret Agent, as well as the new thriller The Housekeeper, appear on demand.
It's a great week for new movies on digital platforms: right now you can watch Best Picture Oscar nominees like Hamnet and The Secret Agent or Paul Feig's latest The Housemaid.
Although Feig is known for comedies like Brides and Garmi, he has gone a bit darker and twisted recently with films like A Simple Favor and Housekeeper.Housekeepers stars Sydney Sweeney as a multi-talented woman with a criminal past hired by a wealthy couple (Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Skellner) to work as an army.It turns out that this family is more manipulative and sinister than you imagine, and the two women find themselves entangled in a web of secrets that force them to take desperate measures.

Hamnett, who is nominated for 8 Academy Awards this year, went digital this week.Directed by Chloe Zhao, the film stars Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescall as Agnes and William Shakespeare as they cope with the loss of their only son, Hamnet, who died at age 11 and is said to be the inspiration for Shakespeare's great tragedy, Hamlet.Buckley received praise for his performance, which our reviewer called an Oscar slam dunk, so check it out before the Academy Awards in March.
Secret agent
The Brazilian film "The Secret Agent" won numerous awards at Cannes, the Golden Globes and many other festivals, and is now up for four Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor, for Wagner Moura's performance as a political dissident trying to fight against an authoritarian dictatorship in Brazil in the 1970s.The film also has a final performance by the great German actor Udo Kier.
