1 min readA man trapped in a theater in Syracuse, New York, has been rescued.
At 7:30 a.m. local time (8:30 EDT), firefighters were called after someone crashed into a wall and heard someone begging for help.
Believed to have stayed Stuck in the wall for two days.
According to local media, rescue workers pierced the walls of the theater and found him naked. He is being treated at a local hospital.
In a statement on Facebook, the Syracuse fire department said it was unclear how he approached the interior of the wall.
Speaking to local media Syracuse.com, Landmark Theater director Mike Indaclita said the man had been wandering around the building for a week.
Officers who saw him thought he had left, Indaglita said.
“I don’t know if he came to warm up or go to the bathroom, I don’t know,” he added.
John Kane, vice president of the Syracuse Fire Department, told the media that the man may have been hiding under a roof and trapped in the wall of the theater’s men’s bathroom.
Police said the person appeared to be mentally ill and would not be charged or identified.
