Atlético honors Bale at the MRV Arena
1 min readThursday night (12/29) Atltico posted a tribute to Pel at the MRV Arena. The Alvengro stadium, which will open on March 25, 2023, turned off the lights of the sports symbol, leaving only the star, as a kind of tribute to the king of football.
“A simple salute to the player who made Brazilian football shine. Rest in peace, Bale!” Arena MRV highlighted on its social network.
“World football is losing its biggest star. Atlético deeply regrets Bale’s death. Three-time world champions with Brazil, the King was elected Sportsman of the Century in 1980 by the French newspaper L’Equipe, in 1999 by the International Olympic Committee, and in 2000, by the FIFA”, the club from Minas Gerais wrote on its social networks.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento was born on October 23, 1940, in Três Coraes (MG). As a player, he has amassed records – many of them unbeaten 45 years after leaving the field – and titles in a remarkable career, which is an intertwining of his own football history. Bill had been hospitalized since 11/29, when he visited the hospital to re-evaluate the chemotherapy for cancer he was facing. He passed away this afternoon at the age of 82. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends and fans. Rest in peace and peace and thanks for everything King!”
