“We lived in the same building in Recife. I was still a dreamy teenager when he left to present his first TV series, Coração de Estudante. His achievements inspired me so much. Today we lost an intelligent and troubled companion! Go in peace! Kisses to friends and family,” he wrote on Twitter.
In reruns on Canal Viva, “Coração de Estudante” was Betito’s first role on television in 2002. The character had such catchphrases as “In my land that would kill you”, “You’re a goat” and “My pet”.
The actor also acted in “Malhação” (TV Globo) in 2003, as the waiter Chico, and in “Linha Direta”, in the episode about Aída Curi. His last role on television was in 2008, when he participated in an episode of “Casos e Acasos” (TV Globo).
Actor and director Siddley Batista said in a Facebook post that the artist had been living with a “mental illness” for years.
“It’s not easy, especially for his family and the people who love him, to see this talented and productive young man go through this. Because it certainly wasn’t easy for him,” he wrote.
