Studies reveal that melting is accelerating in the Antarctic ice pack.
If it melted, countless countries could disappear.
Glacier is located in Antarctica.
Experts have issued warnings about one of the world’s largest glaciers, which, if it melts, will leave much of the world underwater. The immediate future of “Doomsday Glacier,” as it’s called, remains uncertain and worrying.
The so-called Thwaites Glacier is about the same size as the United Kingdom, and is currently anchored in Antarctica.
New studies and underwater surveys, led by the British Antarctic Survey, have found various deposits under the glacier, and show that continued rapid retreat is one predictor of sea level rise.

According to a NASA statement from 2019, it is heading for “apocalyptic instability” which, once passed, means that everything could float to the sea and melt in 150 years.
The current sea level is about 20 cm above global warming levels, and is responsible for the increase in coastal flooding around the world – which can lead to loss of life.
