Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes: Breaking News on Contract Restructure – Shiv Telegram Media

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have reached a new agreement that will significantly boost the quarterback’s earnings. The restructured contract brings the average annual value of Mahomes’ deal closer to the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league.

Under the terms of the new deal, Mahomes stands to make a whopping $210.6 million over the next four seasons. This incredible sum represents the most money ever earned by a player over a four-year span. By the end of his restructured agreement in 2026, Mahomes could potentially earn up to $218.6 million.

It is important to note that this new contract follows Mahomes’ previous record-breaking 10-year, $477 million deal signed in 2020. However, since that time, seven other quarterbacks, including Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts, and Lamar Jackson, have inked contracts with higher average annual values.

Nonetheless, with this latest extension, Mahomes has secured a record $273 million in guarantees since 2020. The Chiefs and Mahomes have agreed to revisit his contract situation following the 2026 season, transforming this long-term deal into essentially a four-year agreement.

Mahomes has undoubtedly had an impressive career since becoming the Chiefs’ starter in 2018. In his debut season, he won the MVP title and has consistently led the team to the AFC Championship Game in all five seasons.

While the Chiefs have had a slower start to the 2023 season, Mahomes remains focused on repeating as Super Bowl champions. This feat has not been accomplished since the New England Patriots pulled it off during the 2003-2004 seasons.

Stay tuned to see how Mahomes and the Chiefs navigate the remainder of the season and whether they can achieve their ultimate goal of securing another Super Bowl victory.
