Cold arrives in Portugal: temperatures will drop across the country and bring snow to Serra da Estrela - Climate

A week that begins with bad news for those who don’t like cold weather and who demand a more generous coat: Maximum and minimum temperatures will drop across the country from Monday. The thermometers are dropping due to a mass of polar cold that will reach the Iberian Peninsula, starting in the north.

Guarda and Castelo Branco are both under an IPMA yellow warning for the possibility of snow, when white flakes have already fallen all day Sunday in Serra da Estrela, so a white blanket is expected in the next few days. Guarda will be the coldest area in the country on Monday, with a maximum of 6°C and a minimum of 1°C.

In Lisbon, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 15 ° C and at least 8 ° C. Porto will be a little cooler: the maximum will be 14 ° C and the minimum will be 7 ° C.

In the Algarve, maximum temperatures drop by two degrees from Sunday to Monday, and will not exceed 17 degrees Celsius. Minimum in Faro can reach 7 degrees Celsius.

On Tuesday, another slight dip in temperatures is expected across the country, particularly with regard to minimum temperatures. In Porto the thermometers will reach 5 degrees Celsius and in Lisbon it will reach 8 degrees Celsius.

On Tuesday, the provinces with a minimum will be Braganca, Guarda and Portalegre, with thermometers dropping to one degree Celsius.
