Corinthians lose a position after defeat in the derby, but continue in the G4; see table

Corinthians lost one place in the Brazilian championship table after 1-0 defeat to Palmeiras, on Saturday, at the Neo Química Arena. As the Tour wrapped up on Sunday, Timão ended up third in the competition, nine points behind Palmeiras and behind Flamengo.
The team from Rio de Janeiro, who crushed Atletico 5-0 at the Maracana, has the same 39 points as Corinthians in the table, but is on top for more wins (12-11). In addition to falling a bit, Timão sees the driving distance as reaching its highest level since the start of the national competition.
However, the situation could be worse. Fluminense, unbeaten for 13 rounds and entering the field with the possibility of overtaking Corinthians, lost 3-0 to Internacional in Beira Rio, standing at 38 points.
It should be noted that both Internacional and Atlético MG, who appear to have moved away from Corinthians in the table, are set to fight for a place in next year’s Copa Libertadores. Timão, who has not won in two rounds, is trying to return against Fortaleza next weekend.
