Azulau Sorocaba’s prediction was that, given a foul, Llosa would lose the point won in the respective match. In doing so, the team will be relegated instead of Sao Bento itself, which the team from the capital overtook in the last round on goal difference.

According to the federation, the game-changing operation complied with the regulation and the request to change the location was analyzed and approved by the competitions department of the entity (See the full entity note at the end of the article).

In a letter sent to the FPF, São Bento invokes Article 4 of Appendix VI of the General Regulations for Entity Competition. The article in question deals with stadiums, infrastructure and match security and stresses that “in the year of arrival a club must, compulsorily, play its matches in the capacity of principal in its seat municipality, on pain of forfeiting the matches by the WO”.

The same article asserts, in its paragraphs, that “in the event of God’s will or force majeure, the FPF may permit a club to play its first three matches as host at a location other than its home base” and that from the fourth match, “a club shall compulsorily play in its seat municipality, under Loss of WO”.

Portuguesa and Corinthians drew 0-0 over Mane Garrincha on 12 February, in a match played at 4 p.m. The game was exactly Losa’s fourth to play at the state level. At 7 pm on the same day, São Paulo and Santos faced each other in Morumbi. Tricolor Stadium is located just over 15 kilometers from Canindé, Portuguesa’s stadium.

What does the Sao Paulo Football Association say:

Paulista Football Association has received a letter from São Bento regarding a match between Portuguesa and Corinthians in Brasilia.
