Galaxy M14: A good, cheap 5G cell phone that features battery | analysis / review

Galaxy M14 arrived in Brazil in April 2023 along with Galaxy M54. It has a lot in common with the A14 5G and its main highlight is that it comes with a much more generous 6,000mAh battery. Does this just change between the two?

The Galaxy M14 is another one to follow up on Samsung’s new identity, which is inspired by the Galaxy S23 line with a minimalist look without a camera block on the back. What changes is that the A14 is flat and has a texture with small lines that cross the entire back of the device. In this shape we have more curved edges with perfectly smooth and more slippery plastic.

Here we have a 6.6-inch panel with PLS LCD Full HD + resolution with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The brightness level is good for an entry-level device and is much higher than what we usually see in cheap Motorola phones. While the contrast is good enough to warrant a slightly grayish black. The sound is mono and the power is just as good, as is the sound quality.

This is another Samsung cell phone that comes with Exynos 1330 chipset and comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The performance is not impressive and is on the level of the A14 which has the same configuration. It is a bit slow when opening apps and struggles to keep several apps open in the background. At least, the M14 performs well in heavy games even with its most basic hardware.

The main highlight of the Galaxy M14 is its large 6,000mAh battery, and this is where we see the biggest difference vs. the A14 5G. We had a huge difference in autonomy in our standard test as the M14 lasted more than 33 hours. It is another Samsung cell phone that comes with a 15W charger and it takes over 2 hours to fully fill the battery.

The photography kit includes a 50MP camera, a 2MP macro camera, and another for scenario blurring with the same precision. Since we’re talking about a fairly simple setup, don’t expect great photos from the Galaxy M14. It does a good job for an entry-level cell phone and takes good pictures on sunny days. The 13MP front camera records good selfies and doesn’t suffer much in low-light settings. The camcorder is what surprises most and even beats some brokers.
