Galaxy M51 x M62: Which mobile phone with a giant battery is worth more? – 08/10/2021
5 min readNS Galaxy M51 It arrived in Brazil at the end of 2020 with the largest battery on the market by numbers: 7000 mAh. Now in early August, Samsung Release Galaxy M62, a newer version of the line which also contains the same giant battery.
According to the manufacturer, both can be used in moderation for two days without recharging. Their similarities extend to the quality of the cameras, screen, and additional features. But which one is more cost-effective?
tilt Compare the technical specifications of the two models to help you know which one is worth.
- Galaxy M51: 163.9 mm x 76.3 mm x 9.5 mm; 213 grams
- Galaxy M62: 163.9 mm x 76.3 mm x 9.5 mm; 218 grams
The dimensions of the two products are the same. The only exception is the weight, which has a slightly different value. Looking at the appearance of the devices, you can clearly see that the interface is very similar. A small hole in the middle of the top of the screen was used to house the selfie camera.
Both are made of plastic. The most obvious change is in the back. While the M51 is plain and plain looking (sold in black or white), the M62 comes in a metallic look and vertical stripe design, available in black or blue.
The arrangement of the cameras also allows them to be distinguished, although both have four rear cameras: on the M51, three are stacked and one alone in the column on the side (more rectangular); On the M62, they are located in two parallel rows (plus square). There are buttons and fingerprint sensors on the side on both models.
Verdict: dead heat. The standard appearance of the Galaxy M51 may please some people. However, the M62’s more innovative rear grip coupled with a more discreet camera array may convince others as well.
- Galaxy M51: 6.7″ (17cm) Super Amoled Plus, Full HD+; 60 Hz
- Galaxy M62: 6,7 polegadas (17 cm) Super Amoled Plus, Full HD+; 60 Hz
Another very similar item. The screen size is the same. The same is true for the 1080 x 2400 FHD+ display resolution, and the 60Hz refresh rate (makes the scenes more fluid. The higher the number, the better).
Verdict: Another artistic draw.
- Galaxy M51: 7000 mAh
- Galaxy M62: 7000 mAh
We got to the main attraction of the two smartphones: the 7000mAh battery, which outperforms its competitors in the Brazilian market (which operate on average at values between 4000mAh and 5000mAh). Charging is 25W on both, which quickly restores battery life.
According to Samsung, the M62 is able to make the battery last up to 24 hours using direct 4G internet. For video playback, the estimate is up to 33 hours. The M51 runs, respectively, up to 23 hours and 34 hours, respectively. Very similar values.
Tests conducted by the “GSM Arena” website showed that the M51 worked for 53 hours on a single charge. Charging from 0% to 100% takes 1 hour 47 minutes. If we consider that the battery is identical to the M62, then we can assume that the performance will also be consistent with the newer model. However, only practical tests will tell.
This kind of result also depends on the optimization of the processor and the operating system. This combination can make a huge difference even if the amount of mAh in the battery is the same.
Verdict: Another technical draw, but obviously the outcome could change depending on what Samsung has prepared for the newly launched Galaxy M62.
