Moto Razr 2022: SD 8 Plus Gen 1 and modified design make it competitive? | hands-on video

The highlight of this year is the significant reduction in the bottom edge of the main screen, as this was one of the most criticized points of the previous generation Razr.

This edge reduction also helped Motorola increase the display from 6.2 to 6.7 inches, while the external display is now 2.7 inches.

That is, it has more space to view content, interact with notifications, and even get a more convenient return when you want to take selfies using the rear camera array.

There is a Razr 2022 fingerprint reader on the side, although the OLED screen is the main screen. However, it is fast moving and can easily recognize the user’s finger.

Of course, the fact that the smartphone is foldable makes it very easy to carry in your pants pocket and bag, and the grip of the Razr 2022 is very good. Even people with small hands will easily get used to this smartphone.

The main screen has a Full HD Plus resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, Motorola has modified the Razr 2022 hinge and now we have a more powerful engine. In the previous generation, it was possible to observe a small “gap” through which external light passes.

Now this problem no longer exists and the hinge is practically protected. Also, the screen wrinkle may still be present, but it’s less noticeable than on the Galaxy Z Flip 4, for example.

This hinge modification also has another positive point: it is much easier to open the Razr 2022, it is even possible to do it with one hand.

And to give users the best performance, the Razr 2022 has a first-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus processor, so we’re talking about high-end hardware, which is something completely different from the first-generation Razr.

In the entry-level Moto Razr 2022 we have 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, as well as the default RAM feature, which makes the foldable access to 10 GB of RAM.

The smartphone still has Dolby Atmos-certified stereo sound, 5G connectivity, NFC for proximity payments, and a 3,500mAh battery with 30W fast charging.

The Razr 2022 is also equipped with a Ready For mode and this allows you to use the foldable device as a desktop computer.

The Razr 2022 external display features adaptive software that not only allows you to display notifications or use images, but also to access an interface that adapts to 2.7 inches.

There is an app menu and in it you will find the system apps, the whole package from Google, YouTube Music, Facebook and even WhatsApp can be managed on this screen.

The company is still known for using tricks in its interface to activate certain features. In Razr 2022, it’s not much different and the brand has also brought interesting software tweaks to the fingerprint reader.

A quick double tap on it launches a quick menu to access your favorite apps. Pressing and holding a little longer gives you access to the Google Assistant.

In this generation there is optical image stabilization, something that can result in higher quality photos and less shaky videos. The kit also includes a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.

The viewing angle is 121 degrees and the sensor can also be used to take macro photos with a focal point of 2.8 cm. That is, Motorola decided to follow the example of other manufacturers and wanted to save the rear camera.

Last but not least, for selfies, there’s still a 32MP front sensor inside a tiny hole in the screen, which is already standard in the smartphone industry.

Now, whether a combination of background and foreground images will result in higher quality images is something only our full review will answer.

Taking into account the amounts charged in Italy, the cost of the Razr 2022 is 1200 euros. In other words, we are talking about 6400 BRL in direct transfer and without considering our exorbitant Brazilian taxes.

The Motorola Razr 2022 is one of the best smartphones in the world, and this price does not match the realities of the market, since its direct competitors cost about the same in Europe.

Out of curiosity, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 was announced for 1,150 euros. This means that there is not much difference between them, for example, for an additional 50 euros, you can take a foldable one with a larger external screen.

In general, the Razr 2022 has developed well: usability has improved, the updated hardware range has also become an important feature, and the end of this giant chin on the screen attracts attention and makes everything more harmonious on the smartphone.

That is, we can now say that the Razr 2022 has become a competitive foldable in this segment. However, at what price it will arrive here in Brazil, this is a mystery that no one knows how to answer.
