The City of Belo Horizonte will expand medical care for patients with symptoms of dengue, chikungunya and other respiratory diseases. The health centers Rio Branco, in the Venda Nova region, and Santa Teresinha, in the Pampulha region, will remain open on Saturday (18), from 7 am to 6 pm.

According to the city hall, the measure is part of Municipal health department emergency plan, which are used according to the municipality’s epidemiological scenario. “In this first moment, two units will be opened for service on Saturdays. The municipal health department continues to monitor the situation and, if necessary, the scope of work can be expanded, with more health centers opening on weekends,” he explained. note.

According to the latest bulletin issued by the city council, on March 10, the capital recorded 341 cases of dengue fever and 143 cases of chikungunya in 2023. One person died of dengue fever this year. Eight cases of Zika have been reported, of which five have been cleared and three more are still under investigation.

The units will operate with preferential care for children and adults who present with symptoms of these diseases. In addition to the opening of health centers, UPAs in the capital will operate normally over the weekend with 24-hour care for the general public.
