According to a statement sent to the market on Wednesday evening (22), Petrobras confirmed that it had received the official letter No. 166/2023 / GM-MME from Ministry of Mines and Energy in feb.
The letter requested that asset sales be suspended for 90 days, due to a reassessment of the National Energy Policy currently underway and the creation of a new National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) composition.

Petrobras reported that its management sent the following response to the Board of Directors: “We have conducted the preliminary study on the ongoing divestment processes and, so far, we have not investigated the reasons for the suspension of projects for which contracts have already been signed. The analysis of operations for which there were no contracts signed will continue.”
But so far, there is no response from the board on what response the oil company will send to the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
Petrobras reiterated its commitment to “broad transparency in divestment operations,” in addition to saying that the President of the Republic “maintains a permanent and respectful dialogue with the President of Petrobras on matters of national interest.”
