Q&A – Dev Confirms 60FPS Mode on Consoles and Cross-Play Co-Op for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Ubisoft Massive is gearing up to release its highly anticipated game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, on December 7. This first-person open world action/adventure game is set in James Cameron’s Avatar universe and will offer players a completely original story with new characters and locations.

This is the second game set in the Avatar universe, with the first game being a tie-in that received mixed reviews. Despite this, the first game was a commercial success. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora aims to build upon the existing lore of the franchise while exploring new stories and characters.

In the game, players will assume the role of a young Na’vi orphan who has been trained by the human RDA. They will awaken fifteen years later to find themselves on a mission to liberate the Western Frontier from the RDA using a combination of Na’vi and human weaponry. The game also features cooperative multiplayer, allowing players to team up and tackle challenges together.

One unique aspect of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is the absence of characters from the films. Instead, players will encounter a cast of brand-new characters in a standalone story. The game unfolds across three seamlessly connected regions: the Kinglor Forest, the Upper Plains, and the Clouded Forest.

As players progress through the game’s narrative, they will earn the trust of various Na’vi clans, such as the Sarentu, Aranahe, Zeswa, and Kame’tire clans. They will also have the opportunity to engage in side quests and exploration challenges, such as freeing trapped animals or visiting Na’vi settlements.

Crafting plays a crucial role in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, as players can craft and upgrade gear and weapons using materials found in the environment. Better materials lead to better-crafted items. Additionally, players will unlock new missions as they advance through the main storyline.

Aerial combat is not always available in every combat situation, as some instances may restrict players to on-foot combat. However, the game promises visually stunning moments of flying on an ikran or riding a direhorse, which switches the perspective to a third-person view.

The length of the game will vary depending on players’ approach to exploration and side quests, offering a personalized experience. Through co-op mode, players can team up and embark on the adventure together, with guest players keeping their progress and any earned gear or collectibles.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora supports cross-play across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Amazon Luna. Console players can also enjoy a 60FPS mode for a smoother gaming experience.

With its original story, stunning visuals, and expansive gameplay, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is generating high levels of anticipation among fans of the Avatar universe. It aims to deliver a fresh and immersive experience that expands upon the beloved franchise.
