The news comes less than two months after it was announced that the 79-year-old Academy Award winner had become a father for the seventh time. Leandro, who is Drina’s son with then-boyfriend Carlos Rodriguez, has also had a film career, being credited in three productions, the latest being ‘A Star Is Born’ (2018), a feature film starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.
Leandro received a tribute from his mother in an Instagram post on Monday (3), and the cause of his death has not yet been revealed. “I hope only love will save him,” he said.
Drina wrote in her message: “My beautiful sweet angel. I loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my stomach.” He continued, “You were my joy, my heart, and everything that was pure and true in my life. I wish I could be with you right now. I wish I could be with you.”
“I don’t know how to live without you, but I will try to carry on and spread the love and light you made me feel like your mother,” he continued. He ended his emotional message: “You were so loved and appreciated and I hope only love will save you. I’m so sorry my baby I’m so sorry @carlosmare. RIP eternal peace my dear son,” he ended his emotional message.
Adopted by De Niro, Drina took his last name, after the actress married her mother, Diana Abbott, in 1976. Today, at 51, she is a model, DJ, and fashion consultant, and also works as an actress and filmmaker. .
His film career began with the feature film “A Voz do Meu Coração” (1996) and went on to other productions such as On The Run (1999), some with his father, such as The Last Suspect and Showtime’, both from 2002.
