Rogerio Ceni celebrates the handover of Sao Paulo against Inter and denies the list of reinforcements for 2022 | Sao Paulo
2 min readSene saw a fierce team that created many chances. The coach downplayed the many missed opportunities and praised the behavior of the athletes.
The important thing is that everyone left everything they had on the field. This is the main factor. The goals part, these things, we try to train and improve during the matches. The delivery makes me more excited, but also the fans.
– Without a doubt, aggressiveness is a trait we want to leave an imprint on this team. The goal is to create, but of course it is better to score goals for a smoother game.

The coach also praised the stand of the fans. There were nearly 20,000 people in the stands as it was the last game with restrictions in this pandemic. From the second day, the state of São Paulo launches the presence of the total audience in the stadiums.
The fans have made a difference, and are increasingly present in Morumbi. The sound from the stands reverberates in the heart of every athlete, making it become a field.

Ruggiero was also asked about looking for reinforcements for next season, specifically Sao Paulo’s supposed interest in goalkeeper Felipe Alves, of Fortaleza, defensive midfielder William Arau and midfielder Diego, both from Flamengo. The coach denied that they were on the agenda.
– Regarding Arau, Diego and Felipe Alves, they are three great professionals I’ve worked with, they have the finest concepts and I will do well with any team in Brazil. But he was never asked about the direction. I know the moment in Sao Paulo, the fans probably don’t know the moment, the truth, the whole, the scale of the situation we find ourselves in.
– So we are going to the market next year, but without conditions to bring players of this level. We chase young athletes. We need to strengthen ourselves next year, within the financial means of the club. We have to reduce salaries, and make São Paulo have a life of its own in the future.
The victory over Internacional put Sao Paulo in 11th place with 37 points, far from the relegation zone, and now close to the group of six. The gap against sixth-placed Inter was reduced to four points.
Next weekend, the team will head to Salvador to face Bahia at Fonte Nova.
