Costco, the popular wholesale retailer, has announced a major recall of 48,000 mattresses following reports of mold growth by over 500 customers. The recall specifically affects the “Novaform ComfortGrande 14-inch” and “Novaform DreamAway 8-inch” mattresses that were purchased this year.
Customers who purchased these mattresses are advised to take note of the issue, as the affected products were sold exclusively at Costco stores in the San Francisco Bay region, Greater Northwest, and on the company’s website. With prices ranging from $150 to $750, these mattresses offered customers a high-quality sleep experience at an affordable price.
The mold growth in these mattresses is believed to have resulted from exposure to water during the manufacturing process. This poses potential health risks, particularly for individuals with weakened immune systems, damaged lungs, or mold allergies.
In response to the recall, the mattress manufacturer, FXI, has urged customers who own the recalled mattresses to contact them directly. They are providing two options for affected customers: a full refund or a free replacement. If customers choose the replacement option, FXI will deliver the new mattress at no cost and organize the removal of the old one.
To initiate the refund or replacement process, customers are encouraged to get in touch with FXI’s customer service representative at (888) 886-2057, which is available between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. For those unsure if their mattress is included in the recall, FXI recommends checking the law tag on the mattress itself. The tag will indicate whether the ComfortGrande or DreamAway model was produced at FXI’s San Bernardino, California plant between specific dates.
