Samsung recently made an exciting announcement, revealing the existence of its latest Exynos 2400 chipset. This powerful chip is expected to be used in the upcoming Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ models, promising enhanced performance for these flagship smartphones.

One of the standout features of the Exynos 2400 is its superior GPU performance compared to its competitors, as stated by Samsung. The company’s President of System LSI, Park Yong-in, expressed confidence in the chip’s capabilities when compared to other options in the market.

According to Samsung, the Exynos 2400 boasts a 70% faster CPU and an impressive 14.7x faster Neural Processing Unit (NPU) than its predecessor, the Exynos 2200 chip. This improvement is likely to deliver a noticeable performance boost to users.

Furthermore, the Exynos 2400 supports on-device Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities, allowing users to generate images from text without the need for an internet connection. This feature enhances convenience and accessibility for users.

Looking ahead, Samsung has plans to employ NPUs instead of GPUs for AI processing in their future chipsets. These Neural Processing Units are specifically designed for AI tasks, making them a more suitable choice for AI-centric use cases.

However, it is important to note that historically, Samsung’s Exynos chips have faced challenges in matching the performance of their Snapdragon counterparts. The upcoming Exynos 2400 may face a tough task in surpassing the performance of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in terms of CPU, GPU, and NPU power.

In addition to the Exynos 2400, Samsung also revealed that they are working on their next flagship Exynos chip, the Exynos 2500. This upcoming chip is expected to utilize a highly efficient 3nm fabrication process, providing even higher power efficiency and performance.

Overall, Samsung’s announcement of the Exynos 2400 and their future plans for AI processing with NPUs showcase their commitment to innovation and improvement in the smartphone industry. It will be interesting to see how these advancements will be reflected in the performance of their upcoming devices such as the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+.
