Unimed Insurance is among the “100+ IT Innovators” for 2021 | SEGS

The company won the award in the “Insurance Companies” category with the development of its SuperApp

Seguros Unimed, the cooperative insurance company of Unimed, is among the “100+ Innovators in the Use of Information Technology 2021”, an award from IT Mídia, the country’s largest business media company, which recognizes the best innovative projects of companies in 21 categories. The company won with SuperApp, its service, relationship and luxury app, and distinguished itself among Brazilian insurance companies.

The development of the tool is the result of the insurance company’s strategic guideline based on innovation and investments in digital technology, which has allowed the company to be among the first to offer digital solutions during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as medical and dental guidance, online consultations with experts and a psychology platform, for example.

Through the tool, the insured can also access a complete health solution, which includes a virtual counselor with tips on exercise, healthy eating, sleep quality, mental health care and even checking their health score – with the goal of improving quality of life. The platform also includes solutions related to the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, including English lessons taught by formerly homeless people (Solvin platform), with special conditions for customers. In addition, the app also caters to the general public who can download it to monitor their health status.

In recent years, the company has made significant investments in technology and structuring projects. From 2018 to 2020, they were more than R$100 million,” as says Wilson Leal, Technology and Innovation Supervisor at Seguros Unimed. “Investing in the SuperApp platform enhances the company’s position, for the insured and the general public, as a complete health protection ecosystem, creating solutions that ensure better quality of life and well-being for people,” the CEO continues.

From a business point of view, SuperApp offers a suite of insurance, wellness related services and banking solutions, which aims to provide global support to customers throughout their lives with overselling and cross-selling opportunities to Seguros Unimed Doctors and Unimed Cooperatives, through an integrated marketplace and digital intermediation.
