Torrey Stafford of Texas, Brooklyn Dyleye of Kentucky A & M prepare for the step of the Valley tournament for 20 years.
The Florida Panthers won the FOC volleyball championship the last time they played, but there wasn't one player this year that this year's team will always remember. After all, more than half of Kentucky's players make up most of Kentucky's roster. To leave a white mark on it: Kentucky is 15 years from the first team scheduled to win a VOLA VOLA championship.Texas, a four-time NCAA champion, has been out of the conference for 19 years.
This week's SEC battle is back for the first time since 2005.He also ranks among the top 25 in assists with four, including the top three in assists.Games begin Friday at the Sports Arena in Savannah, Ga., and the winner will be crowned Tuesday.
The winner earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
"It reminds me of March Madness," Texas star Torrey Stafford said."It's kind of like that atmosphere and I'm excited."
Kentucky, the No. 1 seed, is No. 2 in the nation.Texas A&M, ranked No. 6, is the No. 2 seed and Texas, ranked No. 3 in the nation, is the No. 3 seed in the tournament.Tennessee, the No. 4 seed, is No. 18 in the nation. The top four seeds advance to the quarterfinals. The SEC is the only Power 4 conference to host a postseason tournament this season.
"I think it's a good test and a stone to go to the NCAA tournament," said Kentucky's Brooklyn Daly."Because it's one and done, and you can see your weakness in the biggest part of the year."
Here are 10 players to watch in the revived tournament after a 20-year hiatus.
Staff torrey: change of Pittsburgh, in his first season, average 12 kills per set (4.64 and 27).Stafford is 6-foot-12 in the heat.
Cari Spears, Texas: The 6-3 outsider is part of a great new class in Texas that is making an immediate impact.Spears has played everywhere since joining the club and has doubled in 19 appearances for Longhorns 'Longhorns' Genghorns, including 18 career highs against Baylor.Along with striped players outside Hitter Atter Vast Wall (225 kills) and Treshman center blocker Taylor Harvey looking for a spear for the dominant Postson.
Brooklyn, Kentucky: You won't find a better pin hitter in the country than Kentucky's top duo.Seldy, who is 6-2 in 2024, is still putting up big numbers in a well-rounded offense this season.(507) 5.07 seconds.
Eva Hudson, Kentucky: There's no rest when DeLeye moves to the back row.Because that means Hudson, the 2025 SEC Player of the Year, is moving on.The 6-1 senior transfer from Purdue certainly has similar numbers to DeLeye: 390 kills (fifth-best in the SEC) and 4.94 points per set (sixth-best in the SEC).Perhaps the most notable difference between the two beasts is that Hudson plays with fire when he plays.DeLeye is usually on the ice.Hudson, who led the Big Ten in kills last season, will be there from the first serve as she takes it one step at a time with Kentucky.
Logan Lednicky, Texas A&M: Dad, grandfather and great-grandfather were all Aggies. So expect the 6-3 outside hitter to bring some extra heat to Savannah for the first SEC Tournament appearance.Lednicky, who has 333 kills while hitting at a .312 clip, is also averaging 2.81 digs per set.He had a double-double on the season, including a 12-kill, 17-dig upset of Texas on Halloween night.
Ifenna Cos-Okpalla, Texas A&M: The 6-2 senior middle hitter's name is gracing the national rankings. She ranks third nationally in blocks per set with 1.66, ninth in total blocks with 146, and fifth in batting average with .441.In the Aggies' five-set win over Texas, Cos-Okpalla had a season-high 15 kills, including four kills in five straight, and had a season-high 19.5 kills.
Hayden Kubic (Tennessee): A senior outside hitter at the University of Nebraska along with his older sister Maddie Kubic, Hayden became a star at the University of Tennessee. The versatile 6-2 Kubik had 338 kills in the regular season, averaging 4.23 kills per set.Her 4.67 points per second ranked eighth. She hit 22 aces and had 175 digs in the postseason.
Alexis Stuckey, Florida: A long list of STTTERs dating back to his early days as a 4-year-old champion horse in Wyoming. The 6-2 redshirt junior brings a combination of speed and skill to Florida, which has lost three of its last four games.and AUGRUUSER with 10 kills and 12 assists.Fifth-seeded Florida is looking to win its 13th road title.
Maya Sands, Missouri: The back-to-back SEC Liberator of the Year had double-digit digs in all but two games during the regular season and leads the conference with 490. You can hardly blame her teammates for saying they don't need to play defense when Sands is on the court. The former UNLV star set a career high with 32 digs in an October win over Carolina South. The senior also has 29 aces this season, including three in a loss at Kentucky earlier this month.Missouri, the No. 6 seed, will look to Sands to help build its resume for Selection Sunday.
Jurne Robinson, LSU: He doesn't overwhelm opponents with a 6-1 frame, but Robinson's speed and desire are another story. The Tigers' offensive development is one of the toughest in the nation and has the second most kills (495) of anyone..338.Robinson, who had 23 kills in her first collegiate game two years ago, notched her 1,000th career kill this season.LSU, the No. 11 seed, will need a big week from Robinson to secure a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
