The UK government borrowed £20.2 billion in September, making the gap between government revenue and spending the highest level in a month since Covid.
The figure was in line with the ABR's forecast, but "Borrowing was much higher than the ABR's forecast."The chancellor will probably need to raise £30bn in the autumn budget, he added.
