The upcoming installment of the CaproCOM horror series has been compared to another fan favorite from the lead 2 and evil creator.
Producers have compared Resident Evil Requiem, the next installment in Capcom's flagship horror series, to its fan-favorite predecessor, Resident Evil 2.
After recognizing the similarities between resident evil 4 and the village, PC Gamer Malon Kazawa asked if there was a game that Requemem believed to share DNA with.
"I believe in that regard, it is very close to Resident Evil 2," he said.
It's fitting, as Requiem brings players to the iconic Raccoon City, a zombie-infested location from Resident Evil 2 and 3. Kumazawa also explained how Requiem's new main character, Grace Ashcroft, compares to Ethan Winters of 7 and Village.
"If you look at Resident Evil 7, when Ethan is the main character, there's more character to the player," Kozazawa said.
Because he wants to compare the player with Enthan. So I want to compare her to Ethan, Grace has a lot more excitement.
When it comes to the setting of Requiem, Kumazawa confirmed that the decision to return to such an iconic location was not taken lightly by the team.
"Raccoon City is a very important place, not only for the series, but for the development team. It's a big push for us," he said.
Resident Evil will launch on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/s in 2026.
