The studio has canceled an appearance at Apple TV's press day next week following the news of Catherine O'Hara's death.
Apple TV is holding a media day Tuesday at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.The studio was scheduled for one of the panel discussions until O'Hara passed.On Friday afternoon, Apple TV sent an update to the press announcing that it had been canceled.This event, which promotes TV shows and movies of the year and beyond, is only announced to the press.
O'Hara died on Friday at the age of 71 at her home in Los Angeles after a brief illness, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed.The two-time Emmy-winning actress was known for roles in Schitt's Creek, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Studio, among many others.
The actress was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the first season of “The Studio.”O'Hara was set to reprise her role as film executive Patti Lee in the second season, which began production earlier this month.
After she died, The Studio’s cast, crew and producers shared their condolences.
Seth Rogen, who starred as film studio head Matt Remick and also created the series, shared an emotional post on Instagram.It's just awful.
Apple TV and Lionsgate shared a joint statement, "We are all deeply saddened by the loss of Kathryn O'Hara. An incredible story, an icon and an unparalleled talent, Kathryn elevated every project she was involved in, including the unique talent she brought to her role at the Studio and every top-notch performance she gave us. And her gracious beauty around everyone."
“Since the death of our friend Kathryn O'Hara, we have not been able to talk.He was a hero to all of us, and we went to work with him in the studio every day," the series' cast and crew said in a separate statement.He was classy, warm and funny all at once.
