Google Maps gains 3 very useful functions for your daily life; meet | apps
3 min reada Google Maps It gained three new features that are primarily designed for tours, but can be very useful throughout the year. The first is the 360-degree aerial view of the world’s top attractions – which is currently only available in a few cities, but is expected to expand to other places in the coming years. Also new is that the section dedicated to cyclists will have more information, including data on car traffic and which route has more bike lanes.
In addition, the app now also has location sharing notifications – which will let users know when a family member, for example, has arrived or left somewhere. This feature, along with viewer photos, will be published globally in apps for Android And the Iphone (iOS) and in the desktop version starting on Wednesday (27). The bike paths update will be released in the coming weeks, in cities where the feature is already available. Learn more about how it works below.

Aerial views of tourist attractions
a The Google Includes realistic aerial views of nearly 100 landmarks, located in cities such as Barcelona, London, New York, San Francisco, and Tokyo. The idea is for the tourist to see these photos before the trips to decide whether to visit the sites or not. For now, the feature is only available for these select locations, but the idea is that it will be expanded to more cities.
Aerial footage is located in the “Photos” section of the respective tourist area, and can be accessed by searching on Google Maps. It is possible, however, to visit historical buildings in London in 3D, for example, which greatly facilitates the choice of travel itineraries.

Shared location notifications
Google Maps already lets you share routes with friends and family, but now it has notifications. This way, when someone chooses to share their location with you, you can set an alert when they arrive or leave a specific location.
The resource has multiple uses. It can be activated to facilitate meetings before or after the show, as well as see if a loved one has arrived home safely, for example. To activate it, simply tap “Add” (or “Add”) in the app in the new “Notifications” section, displayed under the name of the person sharing the location with you.
In announcing the novelty, Google highlighted the concern for security, and informed that the person who shares the location will receive periodic reminders informing them of this choice. Notifications will be sent via push notifications and emails. Also, users can block someone from setting notifications.

More information for cyclists
Finally, the tab facing the bike paths will get detailed information. In addition to the slope of the track, cyclists will have access to data such as the presence of stairs, the flow of cars, and a greater or lesser amount of bike lanes.
The app will also know what kind of road makes up the route – whether it’s a local road, a motorway, etc. This way, those pedaling can have a better idea of the cars’ speed, which helps determine the course. This is the only novelty that is not yet available, but it promises to do so in the next few weeks.
