Siamese twins explain how a dating routine works
2 min readIn the US, conjoined twins Karim and Lupita Andrade attracted comments on social media after sharing details of their lives on a US website. During the interview, the 22-year-old sisters explained how their studying, driving, and dating routine works.
Born in Mexico, the Siamese moved to the United States while they were still children. The twins are connected at the torso and share the same reproductive system. The condition occurs when the twins do not separate during pregnancy.
According to the sisters, they have been able to live happily together for more than 22 years. When they’re out in the car, Karm usually drives, who controls the right leg, while Lupita is in charge of choosing songs and checking the vehicle’s GPS.
One of the questions the twins receive more than anything is about how their love lives are doing, since Carmim is dating and Lupita is asexual. “Sometimes I feel bad because I want to spend so much time with Daniel. So we try to make compromises. Like, Lupita chooses where we go to dinner or what activities we do,” Carmen said.
Carmen also told how she met her boyfriend: “I met my boyfriend, Daniel, on a dating app, in October 2020,” he said.
The twins also suffer from endometriosis, a factor that makes pregnancy difficult, and are taking hormone blockers that prevent menstruation.
The sisters stated that they get along very well and are not bothered by each other’s presence. However, not everything they share, like an instagram account where they each have their own account.
“We’ve been together our whole lives, so it’s not like we’re losing our independence. It’s all we’ve known, right?”
