ASUS ROG Phone 6: The world’s best gamer for gaming in 2023? | analysis / review

ROG Phone 6 arrived on the national market at the end of 2022 accompanied by other, more powerful versions. The Asus gaming cell phone arrives with a new processor, high-speed screen and a new camera to offer a more complete package than its predecessor with a focus on gaming.

The design brings a few changes. The camera block has been renewed, the front bezels have become a little thinner and the new one finally brought some certification against water, but here we have IPX4 that protects against splashes and does not help save the device in case of direct contact with water.

The screen has evolved and now has a fluid 165Hz refresh rate superior to other mobile phones on the market. The certified panel provides a high level of brightness and vibrant colours. The stereo sound is powerful and has great bass appeal. There’s even a standard headphone jack, which is pretty rare these days.

The ROG Phone 6 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 with up to 16GB of RAM. It proved to be faster than its predecessor in our speed test, works well with any game available for Android, and offers several additions to enhance the gameplay, including ultrasonic triggers and a platform that combines several gaming controls.

The 6000 mAh battery produces a lot and has proven itself with the best autonomy among all the top phones we have tested. Recharging time has also decreased in this generation thanks to improvements to the heat dissipation system that help prevent the battery from heating up while recharging.

The main camera has acquired a new sensor that takes better pictures. It’s still wideband as before and it has a more aggressive night mode to take sharper photos at night vs. more noisy photos. The front end also received a new sensor and records good selfies in low-light places. As far as the new ROG has advanced in cameras, it still falls short of others in this segment.

Is ROG Phone 6 worth buying? It’s the most complete and powerful gaming phone we’ve tested, but it charges a lot for it. If gaming is really a priority for you, then it will be worth the investment. Below you can find our full review:
