According to the survey conducted by the regulator, The average value of diesel at the pumps this week was 4,616 riyals per liter, an increase of 0.35% from last week.

Although recent moves in the price of Brazil’s most consumed fuel have been relatively secret, given that at the end of July the diesel was still R$4,588/L, it was enough to adjust the product for the third consecutive week of gains.

In contrast, regular gasoline saw a significant increase, approaching for the first time the mark of 6 US dollars per liter, according to the ANP.

Fossil fuels posted a 1.53% jump this week, reaching an average of R$5,956 per liter, also in the second consecutive week of earnings.

In addition to the price at refineries, prices at service stations depend on factors such as the mandatory addition of biofuels, distribution and resale margins.

The direct competitor to gasoline at pumps, ethanol’s value rose 2.22% per week, at an average of R$4,497/liter, after moving three consecutive weeks of gains from other fuels.

The prices of biofuels in factories also witnessed remarkable progress. According to Cepea/Esalq, the value of ethanol in São Paulo has only jumped 9.2% since the last week of July.
