Kamala Harris gets Minerva's vote if no decision is made in US Senate elections

in US midterm electionscalls mid-term, started last Tuesday (8). Polling results determine the political landscape for the next two years, and directly affect the administration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

However, Kamala will play a decisive role if the Senate ends up without a majority of Democratic or Republican seats, where she received a vote by Minerva.

Joe Biden’s party needs two more wins to maintain its dominance in the US Senate, while Republicans need to elect three more members of Congress.

At the moment, control of the 100 seats in the House of Representatives, currently divided between 50 and 50 between Republicans and Democrats, is located on three states: Nevada, Arizona and Georgia.

While the vote count in Nevada points to Republican Adam Laxalt winning, Arizona Democrat Mark Kelly is expected to elect.

The outcome in Georgia will be decisive in the dispute and will take nearly a month to determine. Under local legislation, a candidate must win more than 50% of the vote, otherwise a second round is necessary, a situation that happens for the second time in a row.

Voters in Georgia head to the polls again on December 6 to determine the race between incumbent Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker, the former soccer star.

Democrats had hoped to win seats from retired Republican senators in North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania. They succeeded only in the latter, thanks to the victory of Governor John Fetterman, who suffered a stroke during the campaign, over the famous Trump-backed doctor Mehmet Oz.

Senate control would give Republicans the power to block Biden’s candidates for administrative and judicial positions.

In the House, Republicans are close to getting a majority. The party won no fewer than 210 seats in the House of Representatives, but 33 races were undecided.
