Meta announces new features for WhatsApp groups

Mark Zuckerberg recently announced on Meta, his Instagram broadcast channel, an update of new features for WhatsApp Groups. According to the CEO of Meta, the updates will make it easier to manage groups in the tool by administrators and users.

Some changes will make it easier for admins to manage and see who can join a chat. Also, users will easily know which groups are shared between them and other contacts. See the Meta statement on the updates:

Last year we launched Communities to help people get the most out of Groups on WhatsApp. Since launch, we’ve wanted to create more tools for administrators and users.

Today, we’re excited to roll out some of the changes we’ve made to make groups more manageable for administrators and easier to navigate for all users.“.

What are the new features of WhatsApp groups?

During the announcement of the new features for WhatsApp groups, it was explained how the new controls for admins and other updates work:

“We created a simple tool that allows them to decide who can join a group. Now, when an admin chooses to share their group invite link or leave it open to join a community, they have more control over who can join.

Groups are where people have some of their most intimate conversations, and it’s important for admins to be able to easily decide who can join and who can’t.”

Another challenge with the messenger was knowing all the groups you share with other contacts. Now, Meta has included making it easier to organize groups. Just search through Contact name To be able to see all the groups that you have in common.

Previously, this was only possible when looking at a contact’s profile details in WhatsApp. According to the announcement on the Meta channel, the WhatsApp groups features will be available to the public in the coming weeks.
